The Office of the General Counsel (GCO) represents Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees and provides legal services to the University, the Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation, Inc., and the Florida Gulf Coast University Financing Corporation.

Vision

The University community working collaboratively and proactively with the Office of the General Counsel to advance the academic and societal success of its students, thus positively affecting the communities in which they live and work.

Mission

The mission of the Office of the General Counsel is to support the strategic plan of Florida Gulf Coast University by providing legal services to the University community and its direct support organizations. Such services will be provided proactively when possible and will aid in establishing principles to facilitate the fulfillment of University-wide goals. Legal services provided through the General Counsel’s Office include assistance with: contract review and other commercial activities, interlocal agreements, student disciplinary issues, the development of policies and regulations, and potential adversarial proceedings (judicial or administrative).
